    DooF In Production

In January, thanks to a generous grant from the Alameda County Health Department, DooF took the first steps towards production of our thirteen-part television series with our inaugural DooF Camp.

Drawing upon a core group of children, many of whom we've worked with over the past two years, How Now Productions invited nearly forty East Bay children to audition, and selected 18 to participate in a two-day program of workshops and screen tests in West Oakland.

From this group, six DooF Kids will be featured in the five mini-episodes we're producing this Spring! These episodes, which include To Bee or Not to Bee, One Bad Apple, A Beet You Can Eat, The Magic Ingredient, and The Mysterious Spontaneous Corn Incident, will be available through our website in June.

The 6-8 minute episodes feature markets and farms in East Bay locations, and begin in the kid-friendly DooF Kitchen, which has been made available to us by the Kitchen on Fire Cooking School in Berkeley.

The collaboration with Olivier Said and Mike C. of Kitchen on Fire is one of many exciting new developments for DooF.

This month, Common Sense Media, a groundbreaking public policy organization that provides ratings and recommendations on children's media, features a column by DooF-founder Mike Axinn called "What We've Learned From Fast Food Ads."

DooF was also featured in recent broadcasts of "The Public's Health", an East Bay cable network show hosted by Alameda County Public Health Officer Dr. Tony Iton.

The show includes a brief interview with Mike Axinn and a five-minute clip from "Squash in the Classroom," which was created last year for the Alameda County Nutrition Department.
